The following photographs were taken during our six-day backpack trip in August 2003.There were four in our group: me (Richard Muller), Rosemary Muller, Tom Findley, and Patricia Findley. We started at Saddlebag lake, and camped the first night at Secret Lake. On the second day, we climbed over Shepherd's Ridge; that required at one point that we remove our packs and haul them up. We camped that night at Upper McCabe Lake. The next day we went cross-country (easy) to Middle McCabe Lake, and then followed the stream down to Lower McCabe, where we camped. In the morning we hiked to Cold Canyon, and camped on a lovely meadow. The following morning was magical; the entire meadow was covered with frost. My thermometer read 28F. Soon the frost melted (in the shadows last), and we hiked to Glen Aulin. Even this late in the season, the Tuolumne River was raging. We took a day hike down the river, and on the next day hiked up the river to Tuolumne Meados.
The photos are arranged in six pages. This is the first. Click on any of the thumnails to see a larger image.
